LCC School is constructing a new high school and renovating the elementary school. The original HS building was built in 1922. We will be offering anything you wish to purchase in the building prior to demolition. We will begin in the Shop and go through the rest of the High School, Classrooms, Fitness Center & so forth. All items will need to be taken out by the new buyers, please plan accordingly as most items are being sold in place so bring your trailers, trucks & equipment to remove your purchases.
All items must be removed by 6:00 pm on Monday, May 23rd. (No Exceptions!)
Concessions will offered by LCC School’s FFA organization.
LCC School will be hosting an auction in mid to late May. An auction date will be finalized soon and will be posted on the school website and shared via social media. Items to be sold will include used, surplus furniture and equipment. Additionally, there will be limited school building items available for sale, including but not limited to, lockers, doors, and fixtures. All items will be sold As Is. Potential buyers should note that purchased items must be removed within 48 hours following the close of the auction.
Due to planned school construction, the Laurel Fitness Center and the Legacy Gym will be closed starting Monday, May 2nd. The anticipated reopening of the Fitness Center is estimated to be in August 2023. Current memberships will be paused during closure and will be reactivated upon reopening without loss of duration. Fitness Center members will continue to have access to the Middle School Fitness Center located in Coleridge. Thank you for understanding!

LCC School is building for the future! Much has been accomplished during the past several months through collaborative efforts among our school construction project partners. Architectural designs and construction documents are completed. Subcontractors have been finalized with several local businesses participating in the new school construction project. Initial work focused on utilities preparation has begun as well. The next several weeks as we transition into May, our contractors will begin preparations and staging onsite.
Once school has been dismissed for the year, work will begin on an extensive asbestos removal and abatement process. Early project work will begin on the north and west sides of the Laurel campus including demolition of existing structures and earthwork.
As a specific date becomes clearer for the demolition of the 1922 high school building, the school will publicly communicate information about safe viewing opportunities. Design components within the new school design do incorporate some salvaged brick and precast signage from the 1922 building. We are also working in partnership with the LCC Alumni Association who plan to design and offer commemorative, historical brick displays.
The school construction project will occur in two distinct phases over the next 20 months. Phase 1 focuses primarily on the high school demolition and new construction, including the storm shelter/multipurpose room and the community fitness center. Substantial completion of Phase 1 is targeted for August 2023 and prior to the start of the 2022-2023 school year. Phase 2 addresses the elementary school renovation along with renovation of several interior sections of the building. Phase 2 completion has been identified as December 2023.
A public groundbreaking ceremony to be held prior to the end of the school year is being planned and will include our students (PK-12), faculty and staff members, as well as community patrons. Details and information will be released soon!
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge School Board members approved a resolution to call for a special election on July 13.
School Board members were told at their May 10 meeting that the election will be by mail in ballot with ballots expected in mailboxes on or around June 23.
The resolution calls for an election to allow the school district to issue general obligation bonds with a principal amount not to exceed $18,500,000, for the purpose of paying costs of additions, renovations and improvements to existing facilities of the District together with related site improvements; and providing for the necessary furniture, equipment and apparatus for such facilities.
The decision comes after a failed vote last November on a proposed $23 million expansion and renovation project at the school.
After interviewing qualifying Construction Management (CM) firms, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Public School District Board of Education held a special meeting to formally vote to select a CM. The quality of each firm was assessed regarding their proposal response and their interview answers.
